FAYETTEVILLE, NC - Taking a proactive approach to reducing criminal mindsets and behaviors in our community, the Greater Life of Fayetteville | PIN (People In Need) Program has developed a comprehensive family support series that examines the far-reaching impacts experienced by families with a currently or formerly incarcerated family member. Families overcoming such challenges are invited to attend the second installment of the Crime Prevention Dining IN Series – 2nd Edition on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Methodist University - Matthews Executive Ballroom, 5400 Ramsey Street, Fayetteville, NC.

In partnership with the Fayetteville Community Safety Micro-Grant Program, the series offers a welcoming, non-judgmental environment where families and their children can learn from thriving individuals who openly share their stories and demonstrate how they have transformed the adversities and emotional toll of incarceration into strength, resilience, and renewed hope. A range of community resources will be made available to support individuals seeking guidance as they navigate the anxiety, depression, and trauma often associated with having an incarcerated family member.

“The event was thoughtful, well-organized, and deeply meaningful for my family and me,” states Dr. B. Brooks, a former series attendee. “As someone who has lived through incarceration and dedicated my life to breaking the cycles that trap families, it was inspiring to see a space built on truth, dignity, and collective healing. I appreciated the opportunity to share my story, but even more important was the chance for my children to witness a room of families who understand their journey.”

Dr. B. Brooks mentions, “The conversations, testimonies, and wisdom shared at the event reaffirmed the power of this work. I also want to commend the mission of this initiative and the courage it takes to address crime prevention through family voice, healing, and community storytelling. You demonstrated that preventing crime is not just about policing behavior; it is about transforming people, families, and environments.”

The series is free to attend. The following are encouraged to attend:

  • Parent, Spouse, or Family Member Of A Currently Or Formerly Incarcerated Family Member

  • Children (Age 10+ ONLY) Of A Currently Or Formerly Incarcerated Family Member
