“I Have A Chance” Crime Prevention Dining IN Series Creates A Safe Space for Gun Violence Dialogue and Community Action
Updated: Sep 18
Fayetteville, NC — As local communities continue to grapple with the devastating effects of gun violence in our neighborhoods and schools, the sense of helplessness and frustration continues to grow among families, youth, and educators who are burdened by the trauma left behind in its wake. Lasting solutions may fall short or seem out of reach as communities cope with the painful reality of gun violence after lives have already been altered, and the silence that follows becomes deafening.

With the many social, economic, and behavioral factors that lead to acts of gun violence, families, youth, and educators must lean on community-based violence intervention and public safety programs to help reach an understanding and address root causes, gain access to mental and behavioral health assistance, and obtain essential resources that support those affected by trauma.
The Greater Life of Fayetteville’s People In Need (PIN) Program, in partnership with the Fayetteville Community Safety Micro-Grant Program and other supporting agencies, has created a safe space for the community to engage in meaningful open dialogue about lived experiences with gun violence through its Crime Prevention Dining IN Series, “I Have A Chance.” Series #1 of this 3-part public safety workshop will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Country Club Drive Church of Christ located at 651 Country Club Drive in Fayetteville, NC.
Series #1, entitled DINING In for Stability: Effects of Gun Violence, is a coordinated, comprehensive effort to gather families, youth, and educators together to engage in meaningful open dialogue with community support systems to empower them to move beyond their grief, fear, and frustration toward building and promoting safer environments and supporting prevention strategies in our local neighborhoods, homes, and classrooms.
"Our crime prevention series offers a welcoming, non-judgmental space to share lived experiences with gun violence and build a culture of safety throughout our communities," states Georgeanna Pinckney, Executive Director of Greater Life of Fayetteville. "We must work together to prioritize public safety and protect future generations."
